Despite entering their maiden continental adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting at a rapid pace. Without key players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the London club departed Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually secures them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.
A further victory in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight entry to the knockout stages, especially after a prior setback against Strasbourg.
Fringe Players Grasp the Moment
This occasion provided a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second game in match.
The Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were no match even for a largely rotated Palace outfit. The Londoners were further depleted by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt crash off both posts before being clasped on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for development in his game.
The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
