Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard courts
A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
The player's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.
Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.
This marks his maiden trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since spring of 2023.
The win also signifies the Russian has won 21 titles at 21 different events.
"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.
Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the last five games to go ahead.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional title, took control to create a final set.
The opponent rescued four early-game chances in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a rally at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
