A person who contaminated candy with tranquilliser and distributed them to youngsters at a summer program in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offenses against two children both nine and ten years old.
The defendant was detained after eight minors and one adult became sick at the facility in July.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
Yet, he denied one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old child.
The accused was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She stated his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.
The defendant conducted a "candy game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel explained, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were settling down and request they to consume candy "as quickly as they can".
She stated to the judge the man had conducted this practice with the boys "for many years", and minors had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She explained the man had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had concerns in July 2025.
The prosecutor stated further: "Recently" his stepson had concerns about the activities, for good reason.
"They resolved" to investigate in the individual's items."
The legal counsel stated objects including infant oil, Vaseline and syringes were located, and his stepchild contacted the authorities about his worries.
She said the man went on to play the "candy game" with six children that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"The police had not arrived by that stage," she continued.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, previously told that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
Mrs Prior stated the minors were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so the stepson notified the police once more.
She said Ruben then conducted the "sweet game" in a area of five children.
