Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other smeared cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials say preliminary tests show the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.
City officials announced they were working "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for details.
A senior official said the incident rendered him speechless and required to be resolved promptly.
"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the extremist attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
